Are you a Dutiful Daughter?

Help for Families Caring for Aging Parents

Do your parents and siblings rely on you whenever problems arise?  Are you currently caring for your elderly parents as their health declines?   If so, you are may be a Dutiful Daughter.

Dutiful Daughters feel a sense of obligation to care for their parents.  But it may take more time than they have, require knowledge of our medical system and health insurance coverage, and may entail tasks that make them uncomfortable.  They eventually realize that caring for their parents can be frustrating and eventually lead to burnout.  It can also lead to family dissension as Dutiful Daughters feel they are carrying too much of the load.

Where do Dutiful Daughters turn for support?  Some engage the services of Geriatric Care Managers to manage the care of their elders.  We are nursing consultants with knowledge of the medical system and resources for seniors at home.  We are often called "The Quarterback of the Medical Team."   Our goal is to enable the elder to live safely in their home for as long as possible and thus age with the dignity they deserve.  This allows the Dutiful Daughter to return to her traditional role versus that of caregiver and reduces family stress.
