Opposing amnesty is the only sane thing to do

With time running out before the Tuesday, November 4 midterm elections, Liberal, progressive and globalist leaders in both parties in Washington, D.C. are once again pushing for a mass amnesty of 12-20 million illegal aliens currently living in the United States.  Republicans in Congress are under intense pressure from pro-amnesty groups that fear amnesty legislation will not pass this year.

Meanwhile, Obama’s patience seems to be wearing thin. Last month, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson reportedly met with advocacy groups to consider administrative action that would represent a near complete abandonment of basic immigration enforcement, both discarding the rule of law and any notion that this nation has enforceable borders.

Fearing that President Obama is about to threaten the entire Constitutional System by nullifying immigration laws, twenty-two U.S. Senators, including Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, sent a scathing letter to President Obama on Thursday, April 24. The senators wrote in part:

Your actions demonstrate an astonishing disregard for the Constitution, the rule of law, and the rights of American citizens and legal residents. Our entire constitutional system is threatened when the Executive Branch suspends the law at its whim and our nation’s sovereignty is imperiled when the commander-in-chief refuses to defend the integrity of its borders.

Obama’s False Deportation Claim

But what about the claim made by President Obama that during his administration the number of deportations have increased. Not so according to the Washington Times. Agents are on pace this year to remove the fewest number of immigrants of President Obama’s tenure. Unlike previous presidents, President Obama’s figures include the large number of people who are caught at the border by U.S. Border Patrol Agents, which previous administrations didn’t count as deportations.  Even Bill O’Reilly, in discussing immigration reform on his Fox TV cable show, referred to Obama’s misleading deportation information.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), as a signer of the scathing letter to President Bush, is to be applauded for having the cojones to debunk Obama’s so-called “deporter in chief” image and instead demolish Obama’s immigration policies for what they represent — the hollowing out of the Middle Class and hurting Americans at the bottom of the economic ladder, the very people Obama claims he wants to help.

It was not surprising to learn that Illinois’ U.S. Senator Mark Kirk was not one among the twenty-two senators who signed on to the letter criticizing Obama’s immigration policy.  Neither was Senator John McCain, who on the same day twenty-two of his fellow senators signed the President’s letter, told an audience at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy Jr. forum that “The United States has no realistic option but to accept their presence.  They’re not going home.  And so why don’t we give them a path to citizenship?” argued McCain, “There aren’t enough buses to deport them,” further reiterating, “the Republican Party will never win another nationwide election unless we enact comprehensive immigration reform” [the code work for amnesty].

Has McCain ever considered that the undocumented individuals, if given amnesty, would be privy to chain migration which would allow them to bring in non-nuclear family members. Until the late 1950′s, America’s tradition of family unity had only included spouses and minor children.  Since then, the law has been changed to enable immigrants to also send for their siblings, parents and adult children.

Amnesty for illegals is a bad idea

In an article titled, What Pro ‘Illegal Alien Groups’ Don’t Want You To Know, thirty-three reasons are presented why amnesty for illegal Aliens is a bad idea. All 33 reasons beg to be read, especially by those who favor amnesty. Reason #4 deals with Chain Migration; #5 covers “Anchor babies”:

Chain Migration:  If these 15 – 20 Million Illegal Aliens get their back door Amnesty to back door front of the line citizenship reward, they will then, through reunification programs, bring in an estimated 30-45 MILLION relatives both real and bogus. (Sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, wives, husbands, fathers, mothers, etc. etc. etc….) This would be on TOP of the 15-20 Million Illegal Immigrants for a VERY real possibility of 60 Million pouring across the Southern Border. 

Anchor Babies:  The practice of having a pregnant illegal alien enter the country, or they get pregnant while in the USA, accounts for 10% of the current birth rate in the entire USA! . . . They use their babies (Usually from Mexico) to circumvent citizenship laws, thus the parents, and other Central/South American relatives almost always) then ride the child of permanent rights in the USA and then bring other relatives in through the child. 

Although published almost a year ago, the comprehensive 95-page report by Robert Rector and Jacon Richwine, Ph.D. of The Heritage Foundation covers, as indicative of its title, “The Fiscal Cost of Unlawful Immigrants and Amnesty to the U.S.Taxpayer” in regard to four different categories: 1)  Direct benefits, 2) Means-tested welfare benefits, 3) Public education, 4) and Population-based services.   Well educated household tend to be net tax contributors.  Poorly educated households, such as immigrant households, are net tax consumers in that they generate a fiscal deficit that must be financed by taxes from other households or by government borrowing.  Among the report’s many findings:  The average unlawful immigrant household has a net deficit of $13,278 per household. Additionally, amnesty would raise retirement costs by making unlawful immigrants eligible for Social Security and Medicare.

Amnesty for Illegal is beneficial

The Heritage Foundation report is in direct contrast to an article published in The Hill on April 23, titled, “Illegal Immigrants benefits the U.S.” Specifically mentioned was the need for illegal immigrant workers for certain industries like agriculture.  According to G. H. Goodman

Some people claim that illegal immigrants represent an assault on our sovereignty.  If this is true, then it might be the first time in world history that a country has employed its invaders.  When illegal immigrants cross the border, there’s a citizen waiting to hire them and benefit in some manner from their labor.  The sooner our country realizes that immigration reform should be based upon the views of economists and nonpartisan academic researchers, rather than think tanks and radio show hosts, then Congress will finally be able to help solve this national dilemma.

Has Mr. Goodman considered what legalizing over 8 million illegal foreign workers would do to over the 20 million Americans who are out of work?  It would devastate the U.S. workforce and ensure high unemployment for years or even decades to come. According to an updated article published March 16, 2013:

Only 4% of illegal alien workers work in agriculture.  The other 96% of illegal workers are working jobs traditionally held by low-medium skilled American workers and legal immigrants.”  Taxpayers currently spend about $113 billion per year on illegal aliens (education, medication, incarceration, welfare, etc.). Consider further burdens on our already ailing Federal, state, and local government budgets and economies.

Do the American people really support amnesty?:

Contrary to what McCain and other moderate and establishment Republicans believe, it is highly doubtful that the American people are in favor of granting amnesty to illegal aliens before the southern border is tightly secured, especially if they understood the consequences of chain migration, anchor babies, and the fiscal deficit created per household which must be financed by other households or through borrowing money.

And Republicans have every reason to be skittish. Given the number of Executive Orders issued by Obama in which laws are changed according to whim, should Immigration Reform pass containing language to secure the southern border, it would be folly and political suicide for Republicans to take Obama at his word.   At issue is the potential of millions of new Democrat voters which would result in death for the Republican Party.  Are Republican legislators really willing to destroy the Republican Party all for the sake of allowing business interests to have a supply of cheap labor?

Boehner and others in leadership have drunk the Kool-Aid of Democrats:

It is evident that House Majority leader John Boehner has drunk the Kool-Aid Democrats have been serving him and other House and Senate Republican leaders for years, that never again will Republicans win the White House unless they are nice to illegal immigrants by agreeing to immigration reform.  Making his view known at a recent Las Vegas fundraiser, Boehner said he was hell-bent on getting amnesty reform passed this year. In a display of frustration, Rep. Boehner mocked his GOP colleagues for being too afraid to confront the immigration issue publicly:

Here’s the attitude. ‘Ohhhh. Don’t make me do this. Ohhhh. This is too hard,’ Boehner said, mimicking House conservatives who oppose comprehensive immigration reform.

It is easy to vote for amnesty.  The hard thing to do is for Republicans to oppose the pressure directed against them.  For many Jeb Bush went too far when he said that “illegal border crossing are an act of love.”  Not so, however, for Sen. Flake, a member of the “Gang of Eight,” who applauded former Florida Governor Jeb Bush for “having the guts” to say what he did. Texas Governor Rick Perry likewise defended Jeb Bush’s controversial statement about illegal immigration.

Republican vote for amnesty at their own peril:

Do we invite a burglar to stay in our house after they have taken something from us? Should we then completely ignore and bend laws that U.S. Citizens would be arrested for if they demanded the same treatment from another country? To give Amnesty/ Citizenship to stay in America legally, or to just to “Hang out INSIDE the United States, is NOT fair to ANY citizen, legal Immigrant of the USA, or to those who are waiting legally for citizenship.

The burning question is; why does Congress want to discriminate against American citizens?

Why do we want to allow millions of foreign nationals into our country when we have millions of Americans out of a job?

In a news report of Sunday, April 27, some GOP lawmakers are promising amnesty by August!  Are they not listening to what constituents want from their elected Representatives? To vote for amnesty would bring about an angry Republican voter base not eager to vote in the November mid-year elections, with the possibly of a third party movement ensuing.
