When Anne was at the university, she was cured of the asthma she had had since childhood by a doctor who recommended a simple return to healthy, unadulterated foods and supplements.  Due to her fervent belief that good food was the key to good health, Anne bought Corner Health Foods in Mundelein in 1990, where she promoted her philosophy to all of her customers. Although she sold the business in 2008, she continued to work at the store until her death.

In her 70s, Anne became an avid bicycle rider.  In addition to her near daily rides in good weather, she also completed eight, week-long, bicycle tours, which averaged 50 miles per day.

Survivors include her children, Ginger (Stan) Pillman of Chicago, Biff Johnson of Oak Park, and Mardi (Denny) Moore of Chicago; grandchildren, Kelley (Terry) King, Stan Pillman III, and Rachel Moore; and great-grandchildren, Maggie and Graham King.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl H. Johnson in 2005; parents, Arnold and Rebecca (nee Moon) Yerkes; and sisters, Caroline Y. Spalding and Virginia Y. Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Johnson’s name may be made to St. Paul’s House, 3800 N. California Ave, Chicago, IL 60618, where she was cared for lovingly in her last weeks, or to Salem United Methodist Church, 115 West Lincoln Ave. Barrington, IL 60010.
