Obituary: Brian N. Thornton

Brian N. Thornton of Lake Zurich, formerly of Barrington, passed away Friday, September 20. 

He was born July 18, 1969 in Rochester, NY to Michael and Peggy (nee McCabe) Thornton.

Brian was a graduate of the University of Dayton, he was a financial advisor for over twenty years, most recently with Morgan Stanley.

Brian was a devoted and loving father who dedicated his time to coaching his children in basketball and flag football. He coached the Championship, All-Star Flag Football team in Barrington. Brian was a kind, passionate, and selfless person. He enjoyed exercising, following Chicago sports, and especially the time he spent with his children, nieces, nephews, and family.

Brian is survived by his children Jack and Katie, parents Michael and Peggy Thornton, sister Colleen (Mike) Irvin, brothers Michael (Elizabeth), and Patrick Thornton, and wife Julie Thornton.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 27 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook), Barrington.

Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 28 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 W. Palatine Road, Inverness, where there will be visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery following mass.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jack and Katie Thornton Education Fund, C/O Barrington Bank & Trust, 201 S. Hough St. Barrington, IL 60010.
