Obituary: Jeanette L. Dedmond

The Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanette Louise Dedmond (nee Hollister), 90,   of Barrington, will be held  10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 2 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St. (corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.), Barrington, where she will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of mass. Father Jack Dewes will officiate.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd), Barrington.

Born September 27, 1921 in Barrington to Irving and Magdalena (nee Overhage) Hollister, she passed away July 29, 2012 in Arlington Heights.

Jeanette worked at First National Bank of Barrington, Chicago Federal Savings and Loan, and then as a medical records clerk at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She was an active member of the St. Anne’s Women’s Club and Lifestyle group. She enjoyed housekeeping and gardening. Though challenged by many physical afflictions throughout her life, she remained feisty, good hearted and focused on helping others. She kept meticulous records of important events in others’ lives and always remembered them with cards and calls.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Dedmond; brothers, Kenneth and James Hollister; sisters, Celia Landgraff, Dora Brommelkamp, and  Irene (Martens) Freund;  sister-in-law, Abigail Hollister; brothers-in-law, Edwin Brommelkamp,  Arthur Landgraff, and Harold Martens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 80 W. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, IL 60067-3580 or masses in Jeanette’s memory.
