Obituary: Ronald A. Jones

Ronald A. Jones, 64 of North Barrington, passed away September 5, 2013 while traveling in Iceland.

He was born August 18, 1949, in Galveston, Texas.

Ron was a loving husband to Cindy and father of three boys. Known by his six grandchildren as “Dude”, the time he spent doting on them was filled with laughter and joy.

Ron started at Hewitt Associates in 1977. He was a company partner from 1983 until retirement in 2003, managing Hewitt’s investment consulting practice in Lincolnshire.

Following retirement at age 53, Ron dedicated his time and energy to helping others. He served as a trusted advisor to charities, institutions and friends who sought his expertise and guidance, and was an advocate for social justice and underserved communities. Ron was known for his strong work ethic and a deep and abiding faith in God.

Ron and Cindy found tropical paradise in Sanibel, Florida and split their time between homes there and Barrington, IL. An avid world traveler, Ron was always looking for new places to explore. The recent trip to Iceland brought the total number of countries visited to thirty-five. He was also a tennis enthusiast, ready to take on any willing opponent.

Ron’s integrity, common sense and quiet leadership will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him both personally and professionally.
