Robert 'Bob' Thomas Mack, 89, Barrington

Robert "Bob" Thomas Mack was a WWII Air Force veteran who was a member of American Legion Post 158 and VFW Post 7706, of Barrington. A funeral service with military honors is scheduled for Monday.

Robert "Bob" Thomas Mack, 89, a resident of Barrington for more than 25 years, and formerly of Chicago and Des Plaines, passed away Dec. 4.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., in Palatine.

Funeral services will be held on at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington, with military honors being provided by the U.S. Air Force.

Bob was born on Sept. 19, 1924, in Chicago, the son of the late Walter T. and Anna (Dregar) Mack.

Bob was a WWII Army Air Force veteran, honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1946. Following his discharge, he began working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, where he remained for more than 15 years. He then went on to form his own company, Private Couriers Inc., of Des Plaines, of which he was president and owner for 32 years.

Bob was a member of the Traffic Club of Chicago, Chicago Transportation Club and T.O.T.S.,  American Legion Post 158 and the VFW Post 7706, of Barrington.

Beloved husband of 64 years of Lorraine Helen (nee Boyk)  Mack; loving father of Robert B. (Jan) and Gary T. (Amy) Mack; cherished grandfather of Robert A. Mack,  Jennifer (Jeff) MacBeard, and Gary T. (Crystal) Mack, Jr.; step grandfather of Lisa (Sean) Frainey and Laura Durgin; great grandfather of Molly Mack; step great grandfather of Heather, Jessica, Shannon, and Meghan Frainey, Katrina Phillips, Danielle Pettibone, and Ashley Durgin; dear brother-in-law of Katherine M. (the late Richard W.) Mack; also survived by his special caregiver Maggie Bogucki; preceded by his loving pets J.R. Chippers, Buttons, and Duffy.
