Addition Proposed for Lake County Juvenile Detention Center

Plans are moving forward with a proposed $10.5 million addition to the Robert W. Depke Juvenile Justice Complex near Vernon Hills, which would include new courtrooms, hearing rooms and additional workspace for the circuit court clerk, public defender, probation department and the state's attorney's office, according to the Daily Herald.

The Lake County Board will decide Tuesday if they should hire Chicago-based firm DLR Group of Illinois to complete the design and engineering work for phase one of the project, which was first proposed in 2002, according to the article.

The 16-year-old building currently has two stories and 35,500 square feet of space and the proposed addition would be on the north side of the complex, according to the Daily Herald.
