Barrington Burglar Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison

Jacquelyn Buchholz pleaded guilty to burglarizing a home in Barrington and several others in nearby McHenry, Boone and Cook counties.

A woman accused of burglarizing a home in Barrington and many others in surrounding counties will spend nine years in prison for the crimes, the Daily Herald reports.

Jacquelyn Buchholz, 25, of Johnsburg pleaded guilty to burglary charges in court on Tuesday, according to the newspaper. Police say Buchholz and her husband Jason Werner, 27, read obituaries and burglarized homes while family members attended wakes.

The pair was first charged with one count of residential burglary on Sept. 21 of last year for attempting to burglarize a Barrington home twice in one night while the owners were home.

Buchholz and Werner confessed to dozens of other burglaries in Boone, McHenry and unincorporated Cook County. Werner will appear in court for the crimes this week, the newspaper reports.
