Barrington Countryside to Vote on More Auto-Aid Agreements

The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District board of trustees is expected to vote tonight on automatic aid agreements with fire departments in East Dundee, Barrington, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills and Carpentersville, according to the Daily Herald.

The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District — which consists of 48 square miles and includes parts of South Barrington, Barrington Hills, Lake Barrington and Inverness — will begin operating independently in less than two months and will no longer receive service from the Barringon Fire Department, according to an earlier Daily Herald article.

In September, the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection Districtformally signed an agreement with a Schiller Park company to provide full time firefighters to its newly formed department, according to the Daily Herald.

Paramedic Services of Illinois (PSI) will provide the district with 33 full-time firefighters/paramedics when the district begins its independent operations on Jan. 1.

The Village of Barrington will be laying off 19 firefighters/paramedics as it restructures its fire department. Firefighters affected by the split will be hired through PSI to work for the district.

The fire company has already arranged auto-aid agreements with the Long Grove, Fox River Grove and Lake Zurich fire departments, according to the Daily Herald.
