Barrington Police: Theft by Deception, Felony Theft

Police reports from Sept. 26 to October 1 include theft of American flag and identity theft.

An Indiana man was arrested on charges of forgery and felony theft by deception, police said.

Simon P. Shell, 29, of 33W375 South St., was arrested October 2 in a case involving the sale of fake silver and counterfeit rare currency, reports stated.

Shell was taken to Lake County bond call and issued a $100,000 bond. His next court date is October 4.

Michael R. Trevino, 29, of 6041 S. McVicker Ave., Chicago, was arrested for felony continuing financial crime enterprise, police said. According to police, Trevino committed three retail thefts within a one-year period from CVS stores in Orland Park, Palos Heights and Barrington. Trevino reportedly stole baby formula from CVS, at 101 S. Northwest Highway, then ran through an emergency exit on September 26, police said. Trevino was taken to Cook County bond call and issued a $25,000 bond.

The owner of the Midas Tire & Auto Experts, 110 West Northwest Highway, made a theft report September 30 when a customer stopped payment on a check for vehicle repairs, police said.

A resident in the 600 block of South Summit Street reported the theft of an American flag and pole from the front the house on September 30, police said.

A resident reported someone tried to open a Sam’s Club account using their personal information on October 1, reports stated.
