Barrington Police Thwart Suspected Car Burglary Ring

Lake Zurich resident alerted police to suspects.

An alleged car burglary ring was thwarted in Barrington, on Jan. 2, and four men were arrested on felony burglary and felony criminal damage to property charges, said Chief Jerry Libit.

The four suspects were arrested at the Shell station, at Routes 14 and 59, when they attempted to use a stolen credit card, Libit said.

Rafal L Gondek, 19, of 3219 N. Newcastle Ave., Chicago; Bartlomiej Borkowski, 18, 9512 Glenlake #228, Rosemont; Bartosz P. Miodowski, 18, 3306 N. Oketo Ave., Chicago; and a 17-year-old male from Chicago were charged with felony burglary and felony criminal damage to property. They were each taken to Lake County bond call and given a $50,000/D bond.

Libit said the alleged offenders are suspects in numerous car burglaries in Barrrington, Schaumburg, Lake Zurich, Palatine and Inverness. The group is alleged to have taken items including GPS units, radar detectors, other electronics, purses and wallets, Libit said.

Libit said the police were alerted to the ring by a suspicious Lake Zurich resident who saw them driving into Barrington.

The ring is suspected of burglarizing a vehicle at Chestnut and North Avenue in Barrrington earlier that day.
