Barrington Resident Charged with Felony for Writing Bad Check

Barrington police arrest 65-year-old man for deceptive practice for writing $80,000 check with insufficient funds.

Barrington police arrested Dan R. Eggers, 65, of 422 June Terrace, Barrington, on March 20, on a warrant for deceptive pratice. 

The warrant was out of the Barrington Police Department regarding an arrest in December, said Assistant Police Chief Dave Dorn. 

"The original charge was that he wrote a check for insufficient funds. It was for $80,000," Dorn said.

The $80,000 check was for a return on an investment in stock futures, Dorn said. 

Dorn said Eggers was charged with a felony due to the amount of the check.

Eggers was taken to Lake County bond call and issues a $100,000 bond.
