Cause of Death Still Unclear for South Barrington Man

Vance Nwankwo's body was found Nov. 9 in a pond near his home.

The cause of death for Vance Nwankwo of South Barrington is still undetermined two-and-a-half weeks after his body was found.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said Nwankwo’s autopsy results are pending toxicology. Toxicology results typically take six to eight weeks to come in.

The 25-year-old went missing after leaving a Schaumburg nightclub on Oct. 30. His body was found in a pond near his home on Nov. 9.

South Barrington Police told ABC7 that foul play is not suspected, but family and friends of Nwankwo question the validity of that statement.

“No one can say there is no evidence of foul play until the investigation has been completed,” said Vance’s uncle who is a Chicago Police Officer.
