Child Sex Offender Arrested For Residency Violations

Barrington police arrested Raymond J. Taylor for living within 500 feet of Miller Park.

A child sex offender is facing a Class 4 felony charge for living too close to a Barrington playground.

Barrington police arrested 27-year-old Raymond Jeremiah Taylor on June 1 for living in an apartment on the 300 block of East Lincoln Avenue. The apartment is less than 200 feet from Miller Park.

Taylor first registered as a sex offender with the Barrington Police Department in February. Officers told him he was in violation of living too close to the park and gave him 30 days to move.

In March, Taylor requested an extension on moving to a home further away from the park, which was granted to him by Barrington police. Taylor later told Barrington police he had moved to Chicago and registered with the Chicago Police Department.

On June 1, police spotted Taylor’s vehicle parked in the driveway of his former residence on Lincoln Street. He told police he had been staying at the apartment for five days to see his children, who live in the home with their mother.

According to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry, Taylor was arrested in Minnesota 10 years ago for aggravated criminal sexual assault of a 9-year-old. 

Taylor’s bond was set at $30,000. He is scheduled to appear in a Cook County courtroom June 15.
