David Dorn Sworn-In as Barrington Police Chief

Congratulations to new Barrington Police Chief David Dorn!

David Dorn, who has been serving as Barrington's acting police chief, was officially sworn-in Monday as police chief with his wife, Jennifer, and his six children by his side.

"You will be a great leader," said Village President Karen Darch.

Dorn, who was promoted to assistant police chief in January, was appointed acting chief upon the retirement of Jerry Lipit last summer.

Dorn was hired by the Barrington Police Department as a patrol officer in 1998, and later attended the Chicago Police Academy. He also served as a police liaison officer at Barrington High School from Aug. 2000 to June 2004. In 2009, Dorn was promoted to patrol sergeant.

Dorn received his Bachelor’s of Science degree from Illinois State University and his Masters of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University. He is also a graduate of the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University.
