DUIs, Burglary and More: Barrington Police Blotter

These incidents were among the official reports of the Barrington Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

 

DUI

Kathryn B. Skopec, 25, of 2013 Silverstone Drive, Carpentersville, was arrested Feb. 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or greater, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal lane use and driving without insurance at Route 14 and Willow Road. She was released and given a Cook County court date of Feb. 28.

Katie L. Popnick, 27, of 105 Woody Way, Oakwood Hills, was arrested Feb. 10 and charged with driving under the influence, illegal lane use and driving with no driver’s license on person at Route 14 and Western Avenue. She was released and given a Cook County court date of March 14.

CANNABIS POSSESSION

Jan M. Veloso, 31, of 1020 Oakland Drive, Barrington, was arrested Feb. 10 and charged with possession of marijuana at Barrington Road and Route 68. Veloso was released and given a Cook County court date of March 14.

FELONY DOMESTIC BATTERY

Scott E. Prislinger, age 58, of 26863 W. Taylor Rd., Barrington, was arrested for felony domestic battery and interfering with reporting domestic violence, at the same address, Feb. 8.  Assistant Police Chief Dave Dorn said Prislinger was arrested for interfering with police because the phones lines in the home were disconnected. Dorn said the felony arrest indicates a prior conviction for domestic battery. The subject was transported to Lake County bond call.

BURGLARY

A burglary to a residence was reported Feb. 5 on the 100 block of Waverly Road. An unknown person or persons unlocked the home’s rear door and removed electronics.

ATTEMPTED THEFT

On Feb. 8, three people were arrested for attempted theft at 105 E. Main St: Otis C. Brown, age 48, of 8944 S. Constance St., Chicago; Mellie M. Weekly, age 47, of 5427 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago;  Catrell L. Weekly, age 45, of 5427 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago. They were released on bond and given Cook County court dates of March 22.

THEFT

A resident of the 200 block of West Hillside Avenue reported a pair of diamond earrings missing after a repairman had been in the residence.

 

Manuel Riaz, 57, of 4425 Grove Ave., Stickney, was arrested Feb. 7 and charged with theft at 150 W. Main St. He was released and given a court date of Feb. 28 in Cook County.
