Elementary School Bus Driver Accused of Inappropriate Behavior

Police and DCFS are investigating the incident.

An investigation is underway regarding allegations made against a Barrington Transportation Company bus driver.

According to Chief Communications Officer Jeff Arnett, an incident allegedly occurred on a school bus carrying children from School students.

“The supposed incident(s) occurred on a bus in the presence of other students and possibly involved inappropriate touches and remarks- but, again, nothing has been substantiated,” Arnett said.

The Department of Children and Family Services and police are both in the early stages of the investigation. No allegations have been proven at this time.

A letter was sent to parents of Barbara Rose Elementary students today regarding the incident. Principal Scott Carlson said the letter was written to reassure parents of certain facts regarding the situation.

“These are merely allegations at this time with no confirmed evidence of misconduct; however, claims of this nature are taken seriously and are being properly and respectfully explored,” the letter said.

Carlson also wrote that substitute bus drivers have been assigned to this bus route by the Barrington Transportation Company.

“…I want you to have accurate details instead of any rumors or misinformation you may have heard in the community,” Carlson wrote.

Barrington Patch will have further details as they become available.
