Invocation Helps BCFPD Commemorate New Beginning

The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District began independent operations on Jan. 1 with an invocation.

Chaplain Gerry Schalk, of the Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, helped the Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District (BCFPD) usher in a new era of service to the community with a New Year’s Day invocation steeped in fire service tradition.

The invocation, held during the area’s worst New Year’s snow storm in 15 years, helped mark a new beginning for the BCFPD, which began operating as an independent public safety organization just hours earlier. It was attended by BCFPD officers and firefighters, trustees and area residents.
