A 51-year-old Carpentersville man with a long history of drug convictions was found guilty Tuesday of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, according to a Kane County State's Attorney press release.
Timothy S. Newberry, who most recently lived in the 600 block of Edwards Ave. in West Dundee, was convicted by a Kane County jury Tuesday after 30 minutes of deliberations, according to the news release. The conviction is Newberry's twelfth since the 1980s — most of those convictions were drug-related.
Newberry faces between 2 and 10 years in prison or a sentence of probation.
Carpentersville police arrested Newborn following an undercover investigation. On May. 28, an undercover police officer arranged to buy four alprazoam pills from Newberry for $45 outside a business in the 200 block of West Main Street in Carpentersville, according to the news release. Alprazolam is the pharmaceutical name for Xanax, a prescribed sedative and anti-anxiety medication.
During the deal, Newberry told the officer he could get more alprazolam pills in the future.

Newberry is next expected in court on Feb. 21 at 1:30 p.m. for a motions and sentencing. Newberry had been in custody at the Kane County jail since his arrest in lieu of $25,000 bail. Bond was revoked upon conviction.
