New Details Released in Fatal Lake Zurich Hit-And-Run

Information on GMC Safaris and Chevrolet Astro Vans is being sought.

After further investigation, Lake Zurich Police have released more details about the vehicle allegedly involved in the hit-and-run that killed 18-year-old Gabriella Drozdz

Cmdr. Kevin Finlon said information is being sought on GMC Safaris and Chevy Astro Vans with damage to the passenger side turn signal/marker light. Finlon said evidence at the scene revealed that a vehicle from model years 1985-1994 was likely involved in the accident.

The accident occurred just before 9:15 p.m. as Drozdz and her friends, Rosie and Vanessa Fitts, also of Lake Zurich, were walking to Alpine Fest. The teens were walking along Church Street near Jamie Lane when they were struck. Drozdz died of her injuries shortly after being transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Rosie, 16, and Vanessa, 18, were taken to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with injuries not considered life threatening and later were released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact either Finlon at (847) 719-1690 ext 6118, or the Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
