Police Blotter: Cell Phones Stolen from BHS Locker Room

Reports from the Barrington Police Department.

Unwanted Subject:

Police received a complaint of two men who were cut off from drinking and wouldn’t leave the area in the 100 block of Wool Street on Jan. 16. The men left the building before officers arrived. Officers located them near the train station and waited with them until their ride picked them up. No complaints were signed.

Suspicious Circumstances:

Police received a call about suspicious footprints around a house in the 900 block of S. Hough St. on Jan. 16.  Officers walked the neighborhood with the complainant and followed the footprints going through the yards. It appeared the footprints could have come from a ComEd meter reader, but that is not known. Cook County Sheriff's office was advised to provide extra watch.

Animal Reports:

A coyote was spotted in front of a house in the 600 block of Prairie Ave. on Jan. 16.

Narcotics Investigation:

There was a report of a juvenile party in the 400 block of June Terrace on Jan. 15. Officers spoke with the resident who was home with two friends. She allowed access to check the house. No suspicious activity was found.


Public Complaint: 

A person complained of a man in a building across from them who exposed himself in the 400 block of N. Hough St. on Jan 15. Police located the man who was not naked but wearing only his underwear in an apartment. Police warned him to be more careful when he walks around his apartment. The witness did did not want to sign any complaints.

911 Hang Up:

Police reported a child in a dealership waiting room in the 1400 block of S. Barrinton Rd. hung up on 911 on Jan. 15.

Theft:

A male student reported someone stole his iPhone 4 worth $599 and a black iPhone case worth $35 from the Barrington High School locker room on Jan. 14. The student told police he left his phone on the bench by mistake when he left for basketball practice. It was gone when he returned from practice.

Another student reported on Jan. 14 his AT&T cell phone worth $250, a calculator worth $80 and $20 cash were missing from his backpack which he left in the Barrington High School team locker room while he was at basketball practice. The student said the backpack was not inside a locker.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Patrick J. Coletto, 19, of 533 Fox Glove Lane, Barrington, was arrested at 1:35 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12, for driving under the influence of alcohol pursuant to the investigation of a traffic crash in the 200 block of Whitney Road, police reports said.  Officers attempted to stop Coletto for improper passing in the area of Ela Road and Route 12, but Coletto refused to stop, according to police reports.  A short time later one of the officers located Coletto’s vehicle, which had struck a utility pole in the 200 block of Whitney Road, police reports said. Coletto was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.08, improper passing, violating a railroad crossing, disobeying a traffic signal, fleeing and eluding, driving too fast for conditions, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, police reports said. Coletto was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Monday, Feb. 14 court date in Waukegan.
