Police Blotter: Shoplifting, Stolen Wedding Ring and More

Reports from the Barrington Police Department.

Theft: 

On Jan. 25, a woman reported cash and numerous pieces of jewelry missing from her home.  The missing items include a garnet ring valued at $200, her husband's wedding ring, a blue topaz ring and $400 in cash. 

Michael L. Feterick, 41, of Cary, was arrested on Jan. 28 for stealing a donation jar from the Barrington Dunkin Donuts. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 18.

Retail Theft: 

A shoplifting offense occurred at the CVS Pharmacy in Barrington on Jan. 30. Employees said two men came into the store and took off with a number of items including a $75 hair straightener and over $1,300 in Crest tooth whitening products.

Henry Pompetzki, 74, of the 600 block of S. Grove Avenue was arrested on Jan. 7 for allegedly stealing a bottle of Gordon's vodka from Jewel Osco. He was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. 

Driving on a Revoked  or Never Issued License: 

Tomas C. Garza, 49, of Cicero, was arrested on Jan. 22 for driving on a revoked license. He was also ticketed for driving an uninsured car. 

Edgar Martinez, 21, of Arlington Heights, was arrested on Jan. 15 for driving on a never issued license. He was also cited for driving without insurance. 

Driving Under the Influence: 

Raquel Cuellar, 47, of Berwyn, was arrested on Jan. 22 for driving under the influence of alcohol. 

Orland Park resident Michael James Evans, 46, was arrested on Jan. 16 for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for improper traffic lane usage, following too closely, and failure to signal. 

Kyle W. Virta, 30, of the 600 block of E. Hillside Avenue, was arrested on Jan. 27 for aggravated DUI, and for driving on a revoked or suspended license. He was also ticketed for improper traffic lane usage. 

Criminal Damage to Property: 

Barrington Middle School Station Campus was tagged with graffiti between Jan. 28 and Jan. 30. The paint was located on door windows, and near entrance 16. The offender also tagged the west side exterior of Lines Elementary School. 

Andrew Brian Pagano, 22, of Deer Park, was arrested on Jan. 18 on two counts of criminal defacement of property for allegedly tagging buildings in Barrington. 

Public Nuisance/Public Health Issue: 

On Jan. 30, large amounts of garbage in cardboard boxes and trash bags were located at Yogawerks, 122 E. Main. The reporting officer said the garbage piled higher than the railings of the building and looked to cover the length of the walkway. The pile was large enough that it would block the rear fire exit, and people would not be able to get out in an emergency.
