“When pepper spray is sprayed, it stays in the air and people can have trouble breathing,” Dorn said. He said the incident happened in a heavily traveled hallway. A Barrington High School staff member complained that there was an odor in the hall and some students were coughing as they passed through, he said.

The students were released and have a Cook County court date of Feb. 21.
