Gurnee Man Killed in Crash

The Grayslake Police Department and Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating a Monday morning semi truck crash that killed a 61-year-old Gurnee man. 

Rex Smith was pronounced dead at at Advocate Condell Hospital, said Grayslake Police Chief Phillip Perlini. 

Perlini said Smith's semi truck drove off the roadway and struck a tree on the 800 block of Route 83 at 7:30 Monday morning. Grayslake Fire Department paramedics transported Smith to Advocate Condell.

"The Lake County Coroner's Office is investigating the cause of death," said Perlini.

Bensenville

Woman Leads Cops on Slow-Speed Chase Through Five Towns

A 30-year-old Elmhurst woman who led police on a slow-speed chase through Elmhurst and four neighboring towns Tuesday is being held in DuPage County Jail awaiting a Thursday bond hearing, The Daily Herald is reporting.

Nicole S. Evans, of the 400 block of East Vallette, was driving a PT Cruiser erratically in Bensenville at about 11 a.m., when witnesses reported her as a possible drunken driver, according to media reports. For 30 minutes, Evans led police through parts of Elmhurst, Wood Dale, Elk Grove Village and Itasca,ABC7 News is reporting.

Four Charged with Robbing Woman at Gunpoint

Cary Police have charged four men with armed robbery following a holdup Wednesday afternoon in Cary.

According to Acting Cary Police Chief Michael Roth, the following four men have been arrested: 
  • Ceszar A. Fernandez, 21, of Elgin
  • Mark A. Picazo, 19, of Bartlett
  • Leon Gonzalez Jr., 18, of Bartlett
  • Christian J. Deleslin, 18, of Waukegan
Each of the men were charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a Class 1 felony; one count unlawful possession of cannabis, a Class 4 felony; and theft over $500, a Class 4 felony, Roth stated in a news release.

Fernandez, the driver of the car, also was charged with driving while license suspended. All four men were transported to the McHenry County Correctional Facility, where they are awaiting bond hearings, Roth said.

At approximately 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, Cary Police were called to assist a 20-year-old who said she had been robbed. The Northwest Herald reported the robbers "brandished" gun in the victim's face in the 1500 block of Crystal Lake Rd., Cary, while attempting to steal drugs from the woman.

The woman said four men had robbed her, and fled in a car.

Mount Prospect

Couple Found Stabbed to Death in Apartment

Police are investigating the stabbing deaths of a Mount Prospect couple whose bodies were found Tuesday morning in the bathtub of their home, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

July Diaz-Hernandez, 31, and Victorio Lopez-Rosales, 46, were pronounced dead at the scene at 8:53 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the article. 

Police were called to the couple's apartment in the 500 block of West Dempster about 8:30 a.m., according to the Daily Herald.  A knife was found "protruding" from the man's chest, according to the Daily Herald.
