Reward Offered For Information On Fatal Hit-And-Run

Lake County Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward.

As the search continues for the vehicle that struck and killed  of Lake Zurich July 22, Lake County Crime Stoppers announced it is now offering a $5,000 reward in hopes that someone will provide information leading to an arrest.

The hit-and-run occurred just before 9:15 p.m. July 22 as Drozdz and her friends, Rosie and Vanessa Fitts, also of Lake Zurich, were walking to Alpine Fest. The teens were walking along Church Street near Jamie Lane when they were struck. Drozdz died of her injuries shortly after being transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Rosie, 16, and Vanessa, 18, were taken to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with injuries not considered life threatening and later were released.

The vehicle of interest is described as a two-tone blue van with a lighter accent color, possibly silver or gray. The vehicle being sought is a GMC Safari or Chevrolet Astro van from model years 1985-94. The license plate is mounted on the rear hatch.

Lake Zurich Police Cmdr. Kevin Finlon said Gabby's family is working with Lake County Crimestoppers to increase the reward amount.
