Nearly two months after being placed on administrative leave, Fine Arts Department Chairwoman Julie Salk has retired from Barrington 220 School District.

. Local authorities also are involved in the situation, which a school official said has not been resolved.

“Whether a person retires, resigns or terminates, that doesn’t preclude the district or local authorities from further action if and when they may discover that something would warrant that,” said Jeff Arnett, chief communications officer.

Arnett said there was no separation agreement in her retirement, and she will not receive any benefits directly from District 220.

“She has taught for 20 years, so she could receive retirement through the Teacher Retirement System in the state of Illinois, but she won’t receive any direct benefits from the school district,” Arnett said.
