Update: No Foul Play in Crystal Lake Teen's Death

The body of a 14-year-old girl was found Thursday morning at Veteran Acres Park.

Update 8 a.m., Feb. 22

No foul play is suspected in the death of a 14-year-old girl found dead, Thursday morning, at according to Crystal Lake Police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior.

Park District Police and Crystal Lake Police officials were on the scene early Feb. 21, to investigate the death at the park, located at 431 Walkup Road on the north side of Crystal Lake.

The teen's body was found at about 7:45 a.m. by a passerby near the pond.

The girl's name was withheld because she is a juvenile.

The teen was reported missing late Wednesday night.

Friends and acquaintances of the victim said she attended Prairie Ridge High School. The girl's Facebook page was filled with messages of condolences by late Thursday night. Many of the messages described the teen as a talented singer, musician and artist.

Jason Herbster, executive director for the  said patrons of Veteran Acres were not in any danger.

"I can tell you at this time that the park is safe and there is no danger to anyone using the park," Herbster said.

 

Feb. 21

A 14-year-old teenage girl was found dead this morning at the Northwest Herald is reporting.

Veteran Acres is located at 431 Walkup Road on the north side of Crystal Lake.

Members of the Crystal Lake Park District Police and Crystal Lake Police Department are working on the case.

The teenager's body who was found at about 7:45 a.m. by a passerby near the pond, the Herald reports.
