Trial Underway in Fatal Street Racing Crash in Hoffman Estates

A trial for a 39-year-old Bartlett man charged with aggravated street racing in a crash that killed a 32-year-old North Aurora man and a 62-year-old Hoffman Estates resident is underway, according to the Daily Herald. 

Timothy Salvesen is accused of being involved in a street race with the North Aurora man, Joseph Palokaitis, while both were west on Golf Road in Hoffman Estates in January 2011. Witnesses said the two were racing in and out of traffic traveling between 80 to 90 mph before Palokaitis's vehicle fishtailed and collided with the vehicle of the Hoffman Estates resident, Migdalia Bloch, according to the article.
