Barrington Swears In New Police Officers

Two officers were welcomed to the force at at the village board meeting.

Village President Karen Darch considered it a special Barrington board meeting, Jan. 9, as two officers were ceremoniously sworn into service by Police Chief Jerry Libit.

Garrett Oberkircher and Christopher Tatman have been with the department for a few months and have completed police academy training and are currently in field training, said Libit. 

Village Manager Jeff Lawler noted that Oberkircher had the highest score in his class at the police academy.

Also at the meeting, Lawler congratulated several employees for their years of service:

  • Sandy Donlea,5 years as crossing guard.
  • Fred Welstead, 15 years as crossing guard.
  • Officer Lori Allsteadt, 10 years in the police department.
  • Officer Mike Gorzelanczyk, 15 years in the police department.
