Rep. State Sen. Bill Brady has selected former Long Grove Mayor Maria Rodriguez as his running mate for the gubernatorial race, according to the Associated Press.

Rodriguez served as the Long Grove mayor for two terms, according to the article. 

The Daily Herald reports Brady's pick of Rodriguez as his lieutenant governor follows a trend of Republican candidates "trying to find some geographical balance." Brady is from Bloomington and Rodriguez could help garner votes in the suburbs, according to the Daily Herald.
