Rep. Mark Beaubien Dies Suddenly

Chicago Tribune: Illinois Rep. Mark Beaubien died of a heart attack at a GOP event June 5.

Illinois Rep. Mark Beaubien, Jr. of the 52nd District died suddenly of a heart attack June 5 at Arlington Park race track, according to the Chicago Tribune. He was 68 years old. 

The article states that Beaubien, a Republican from Barrington Hills, was attending a GOP fundraising event when it happened. Arlington Heights Police would not release any information to Patch Sunday evening.

Beaubien has served the 52nd District as the state representative since 1996. The district includes all or parts of Barrington, Wauconda, Round Lake, Cary, Ingleside, Island Lake, Fox Lake, Lakemoor, Volo, Tower Lakes, Fox River Grove, McHenry, Crystal Lake, Holiday Hills, Prairie Grove, Johnsburg, Wonder Lake and Woodstock.

Barrington Village President Karen Darch issued the following statement regarding his death:

“Representative Beaubien served his constituents thoughtfully and vigorously for the past 15 years in Springfield, and before that on the Lake County Board and in Cuba Township.  He always had an open door policy whether at home or in Springfield.  He was a leader; and boldly led on issues like pension reform before it was in vogue.  Our condolences and thoughts are with his wonderful and supportive wife Dee and their family.  He will be sorely missed by all," the statement read.

Barrington officials and residents also expressed sadness in his passing on its Facebook page

“We are saddened to learn of the passing of State Rep. Mark Beaubien. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family,” one update read.

Several Barrington area residents also gave their thoughts and condolences on the Village of Barrington’s Facebook page.

“He will be missed,” Denise Tenyer wrote.

“This is terribly sad news. Rep. Beaubien was a great advocate for our community and will be missed greatly,” Marc Bulandr wrote.

Beaubien is survived by his wife Dee, two sons and four grandchildren.
