Village Announces Spectacular Summer

A variety of events are on tap in Barrington for the summer of 2011.

According to Peg Blanchard, Barrington’s Economic & Community Development Director, the summer of 2011 will be Barrington’s most exciting summer to date.

“Last summer we had ‘Best Summer Ever’ in Barrington,” Blanchard said. “We are continuing on that theme but it’s going to be a ‘Spectacular Summer’ in Barrington.”

To kick off this event, the village will be hosting Barrington Art Festival over Memorial Day weekend. The event is held in the village center and is free to the public.  140 artists from around the world will have artwork for sale, and festival go-ers will also enjoy a variety of food vendors and other activities.

“While you’re walking through the Art Festival, make sure you stop in our local businesses that are in the area,” Blanchard said. “They will be having a number of events throughout their stores featuring different artists.”

Back by popular demand this summer are the Barrington Cruise Nights. These weekly Thursday evening events will run from June 2 through September 1.

“[Continuing Cruise Nights] was a request that people just did not want that event to end. Mark your calendars and be downtown and in the area to be part of our social and vibrant community,” Blanchard said.
