“It is important to remember those who have served our country so that Americans can enjoy a better way of life”, says Karen Lambert, President of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. ”Veteran’s Day is a time where we can pause and let our veteran’s know how much we appreciate their dedication to our country.”

The purpose of Veteran’s Day is a celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve for the common good. Veteran’s Day is different than  Memorial Day,  which honors those in the military who died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle; Veteran’s Day pays tribute to all veterans - especially to living veterans who served their country during war or peacetime.
