Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital Food Drive

Good Shepherd is conducting a Food Drive from Mon, Aug 27 until Thurs, Aug 30, supporting the following food pantries: Algonquin/LITH; Grafton Township; Lake Zurich/Ela Township; Wauconda/Island Lake

Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is conducting a Food Drive from Monday, August 27 until Thursday, August 30.  As a not-for-profit institution dedicated to the health and wellness of our communities, we ask you to join us and share what you can with others. Advocate Good Shepherd is supporting the following food pantries: Algonquin/LITH; Grafton Township; Lake Zurich/Ela Township; Wauconda/Island Lake.

Good Shepherd Hospital is encouraging members of the community and hospital staff to donate to the 2012 Summer Food Drive. Items can be dropped off at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, 450 W. Highway 22, Barrington.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s annual study measuring food security in the United States, 14.5% of Americans in 2010 lived in a food insecure home at least some time during the year, while 5.4% of Americans lived with very low food security. In 2011, 14.1% of Illinoisans lived below the poverty line.  

"This food drive is our way of giving back. We know that many people in our local communities are in need. We want to help and to also give others the chance to help out this holiday season,” said Rev. Fred Rajan, Vice President, Mission and Spiritual Care, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.
