Healthy Holiday Cooking for Diabetes

Holiday celebrations can pose a challenge for people with diabetes. Without a little pre-planning, you may risk throwing your diabetes off course.  Join Kate Olson, Ann Knipp and Robert Carrara, registered dietitians on staff at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital’s Diabetes Care Center, on Tuesday, November 15 from 6:30 – 8 pm to plan ahead for a joyous holiday season.  They will demonstrate simple cooking tips, strategies for managing blood sugars, provide samples and healthy holiday recipes. 

“The holidays are challenging for anyone trying to eat healthy…but even more of a critical challenge for people with diabetes.  People with diabetes have more trouble controlling their blood sugars after they eat, and overeating and frequent consumption of holiday treats may lead to higher blood sugars,” says Olson.

The lecture is free and will take place in the Prairie Room at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, 450 W.
