As School Year Nears, Be Aware On the Roads

Barrington School District Students head back to class August 20, and with the start of school will come more students walking, biking and riding on the local roads. The village is urging people to use extra caution while using the roads during this busy time of year.

The American Automobile Association says that the greatest threat faced by children today  is a motor vehicle crash - which can impact them whether they are walking, riding a bike or riding in a car. Village officials are urging adult drivers to be responsible and use extra care when children may be present as you would want others to do for your children or grandchildren. They also wanted to remind drivers that the use of cell phones in school zones is prohibited, and that texting is illegal while driving. Drivers must also stop for pedestrians in cross walks.
