Barrington High School Student Given State-Wide Volunteer Award

Jake Herb, founder of "Go Beyond Barrington" was named a distinguished finalist in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.

 

 

The founder of "Go Beyond Barrington" at Barrington High School was named one of Illinois' top volunteers of 2013 by Prudential. 

Jake Herb, 16, is one of eight distinguished finalists in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a national program honoring middle level and high school students for outstanding volunteer service.

that has raised $35,000 for Joplin, Mo. tornado relief efforts. The town was devastated by the natural disaster in May of 2011. The group has provided Joplin High School with $18,000 to buy new technology supplies, and $17,000 to help rebuild a families home.
