Barrington School Is Dark Once A Week

For Green Tuesdays, the lights go off once a week at Grove Avenue Elementary School in Barrington.

In hopes of teaching children to be more green, the lights are off every Tuesday at Grove Avenue Elementary School in Barrington, Heartland reports. They go off as part of a Green Tuesdays program at the school, which also asks students to wear an article of green clothing on those days.

Some parents at the school are worried about the safety of the children at the school, saying they could get hurt and trip, and an intruder could come in and no one would see them. However, school officials say there still is plenty of light from windows for students to find their way. And they said many families are in support of the program which is bringing an awareness to their children.
