Barrington Station Wins National Academic Quiz Tournament

More than 500 middle schools participated in competition.

Barrington Middle School (Station Campus) defeated Kealing Middle School of Austin, Texas, to win the National Academic Quiz Tournament (NAQT) Middle School National Championship last weekend.

“Station's A team finished with the preliminary, power-matched rounds at 8-0, the only undefeated team, to earn the #1 seed,” said math teacher and coach Jeff Price. “In the Sunday playoffs, they defeated teams from Georgia, California, and Texas, before losing to the defending national champs, Kealing Middle of Austin, Texas, on the last question in the first game of an advantaged final (wherein Kealing needed to beat Station twice). In the 2nd game of the final, Station poured it on, prevailing 650-220 to win the title of 2013 Middle School National Champions!”
