BHS Class of 2013: Funny Moments, Interesting Facts

Barrington High School students were thrust in the national spotlight when students won a contest sponsored by pop star Rihanna for its charity work.

The event was memorable for a few reasons, Rihanna was four hours late and stayed 16 minutes.

Principal Stephen McWilliams joked at Friday graduation ceremony about the schools’ brush with celebrity and pointed out the nation learned what the school and the community have always known about BHS students.

“As a school, as a class, you are committed to assisting those less fortunate,” he said.

The Class of 2013 compiled 49,000 hours of community service and 170 students qualified for the President’s Volunteer Service Board, he said. Under senior class leadership, BHS raised $18,000 for Home of the Sparrow, he said.
