Countryside Elementary Principal on Paid Leave of Absence

Kimberly Foster-Thomas, principal of Countryside Elementary, is on paid leave, reported District 220 Supt. Tom Leonard. The district has not explained the circumstances due to the "sensitive and confidential" nature of the situation.

District 220 Supt. Dr. Tom Leonard announced Friday that Countryside Elementary Principal Kimberly Foster-Thomas was taking a paid leave of absence "so she and the school district can attend to a personnel matter."

Leonard's memo reads as follows:

Because the nature of her leave is sensitive and confidential, I cannot share additional details about Mrs. Foster-Thomas’ absence from school.

Understandably, the lack of information may increase your curiosity, but please avoid making hasty and unnecessary assumptions. Although not as informed as you may prefer, we know some awareness and acknowledgment of this unanticipated circumstance is expected. We hope to deliver more details and clarity as soon as the matter is resolved.

Given the busy activities of next week before winter vacation, administrators from the school district’s central office and other departments will provide rotating assistance at Countryside during Mrs. Foster-Thomas’ absence.

We are confident staff, parents and Barrington 220 administrators will all work together to ensure uninterrupted support for students until this leave concludes.
