Positive progress is being made in the Barrington 220 School District teacher contract negotiations, the Daily Herald reports.
The Barrington Education Association and the District 220 Board of Education have been negotiating the deal for months.
“This voluntary action will provide a neutral mediator to conduct meetings and coordinate discussions in the final stage of this important endeavor. Most importantly, the assistance intends to secure an agreement in the best interest of students, staff and community stakeholders,” read a November email to District 220 residents.
School Board President Brian Battle told the Daily Herald that two productive sessions with the mediator were held in the month of December, and both sides are optimistic that an agreement can be made in the near future.
District 220 educators have been working without a contract since the beginning of the school year.
