Sauer Resigns from School Board, New Member Sought

Sauer resigned after being elected to the Lake County Board. A new member will be appointed to serve until the term ends in 2013.

The Barrington 220 Board of Education expressed gratitude to Nick Sauer, who has served on the board since his election in the spring of 2009. Sauer resigned his seat on the Board of Education effective Nov. 14 following his successful election to the Lake County Board of Commissioners, serving District 17. President Brian Battle and his board colleagues commended Sauer for his dedicated representation of students, staff and residents during his productive tenure in Barrington 220

Sauer, who is also a graduate of Barrington High School, reflected on his long association with the school district, crediting his formative years as both a student and a leader with preparing him for the next chapter in his public service career.

The Board of Education now turns its attention to appointing a new member to fill Sauer's seat for the next five months until the general election on April 9, 2013. The single-seat, five-month appointed position will serve effective Dec. 18 through next spring when four of the seven positions on the board are up for election. The appointed member may or may not be a candidate for one of those seats.

Interested applicants should visit barrington220.org/BoEapplication to find the details and to complete and submit an online form expressing their qualifications and interest. Printed copies of the application are also available at the James Street Administrative Center, each Barrington 220 school and the Barrington Area Library. The Board of Education will review all applications and identify final candidates in the coming weeks, prior to Dec. 18 when the person will be appointed.
