Six Barrington Schools on Illinois Honor Roll

Academic Excellence Awards go to schools that have sustained high performance for at least three years.

Six Barrington 220 schools received the 2011 Illinois Academic Excellence Award. They include Countryside, Grove Avenue, Hough Street, North Barrington and Roslyn Road elementary schools as well as Barrington Middle School-Station Campus.

This year 438 Illinois schools received Academic Excellence Awards. In elementary and middle schools, at least 90 percent of the students met or exceeded state standards in both reading and mathematics for at least 3 consecutive years.

Illinois Honor Roll schools are determined by the Illinois State Board of Education along with Northern Illinois University.  The state’s annual recognition program is based on standardized tests and demographic information, according to the Illinois Honor Roll website.
