Barringtn Girls Tennis Claims Sectional Championship

The Barrington High School girls tennis team scored a sectional championship this past weekend at Lake Park, according to the Illinois High School Association website. 

The Barrington team scored 28 points, winning the sectional over second-place finisher Fremd High School in Palatine, which had 17 points. Three high schools tied for third place with 14 points: Lake Zurich, Elk Grove Village and Rolling Meadows.

Sophomore Michelle Linden won the singles match-up and will be headed to state. Also earning a trip to state for Barrington is Caroline Levy, a junior singles player, who placed fourth at sectionals and the doubles team of senior Anna Donoghue  and junior Addie Hirsch, after placing second at sectionals, according to the IHSA website. 

Before last year, Barrington recorded eight sectional victories, according to the Daily Herald. 

The state final tournament will be held Oct. 24 through 26 at Buffalo Grove High School.
