Barrington Bronco Football Is No Laughing Matter
With head coach Joe Sanchez at the helm, the Broncos are off to a great football season.
Bronco football is no laughing matter.
At 4-0, the Broncos are off to their best start since 2003, and credit for this impressive start is spread across the entire team.
At 75.6 inches and 280 pounds, the Broncos offensive line is a large one. Returning seniors Bolger (center), Kristof (guard), Aaron Castagna (guard) and junior Dan Voltz (tackle) have nearly as much size as some NFL teams.

This big, returning varsity offensive line is chiefly responsible for the Broncos scoring. They have provided new quarterback Matt LeMire (transfer from El Paso, Texas) plenty of time to find receivers, and have opened up running lanes for returning junior running back Chase Murdock. Murdock is on track for another 1,000+ rushing yard season.
Joe Sanchez, head coach and offensive coordinator, says his offensive line is a strong one.

"I believe we have several to watch for but to name a few it starts on the O-Line, seniors Pat Bolger and Jimmy Kristof along with junior Dan Voltz…they will anchor our offense," he said.
Sanchez began as the Broncos defensive coordinator in 1998 before making the bold move to become offensive coordinator this year due to the strengths of his defensive staff.
"Dan Young and Tim Norwood are the co-defensive coordinators and with Mike Staudt coaching defensive backs and Al Sekulic on the defensive line, they all work very hard and are doing a great job with the kids," he said. "I would not have switched over if I wasn't comfortable."
It appears that Sanchez made a good move. The Broncos defense held Hersey's crafty, no-huddle option attack quiet for three quarters.
The Broncos constant pressure of Hersey quarterback Brad Zaucha forced three interceptions and held him to 5 of18 passing for only 57 yards.
The defensive line is also the reason that Barrington pulled off the overtime victory against state-ranked Elk Grove. The Broncos have only allowed 72 points so far this season, but they will be tested later this year with games against high powered offenses such as Schaumburg (homecoming) and Palatine (last home game). Ben LeCompte has had consecutive games with an interception.
