Girls' Volleyball Team Welcomes New Coach

Fillies varsity volleyball has a new head coach.

A familiar face becomes the new head coach of Fillies’ varsity volleyball as Bronco varsity coach Rob Ridenour will coach both sports next year.

“Rob has done a great job running our boys volleyball program and I'm confident he will do the same for our girls in the fall,” Barrington’s Athletic Director Mike Obsuszt said of the move. “He runs a very disciplined program, but at the same time, you can see the athletes enjoying their experience.”

Ridenour will replace Christopher Bronke, who announced his decision to step away from the game he loves to focus more on career and family.

"The idea of having time for me, for my wife, and to grow as a teacher, is one that I am really excited about," Bronke said.

Bronke, who became the Fillies coach in 2006, officially stepped down as the girls volleyball coach after their loss in the regional finals against Cary-Grove 2-0, but remained on to work with the boys varsity squad in the spring.

Ridenour and Bronke are quite familiar with each other’s coaching styles and the rigorous demands each expects from the team since both serve as an assistant coach for the other, so the transition should be any easy one for Ridenour.

Ridenour became the Broncos varsity coach in the 2006-07 season.
