Megan McClowry, a 25-year-old nurse from Naperville — who is now working in Uganda — and Jason Doland, a 43-year-old civil engineer from Inverness, won the foreign-born runners division at the Ethiopia's first marathon on Oct. 20, according to the Daily Herald.
McClowry broke the tape as the first foreign-born woman to cross the finish line of the 26.1-mile race with a time of 3:36:00 while Dolan, a cross-country coach at St. Theresa School in Palatine, finished in 2:53.03, according to the article.
In total, 350 runners participated in the inaugural race, including about 150 foreign-born runner, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The overall winner of the 2013 Haile Gebrselassie Marathonwas Gudisa Shentema of Ethiopia with a time of 2:15:23, according to the International Association of Athletics Federations website. Almaz Negede of Ethiopia won the woman's race with a time of 2:39:50, according to the website.
