Barrington Country Garden & Antique Faire, Event of the Summer, Nears

Explore estate gardens, do some shopping and get tips on entertaining.

Submitted by Hands of Hope

The Barrington Country Garden & Antique Faire is a hot ticket not only for stunning gardens and fabulous antique and boutique shopping, but for the humanitarian mission it supports.

The 13th annual event is planned for Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22. Guests can tour properties of three private estates in Barrington Hills that feature floral gardens, water features, striking sculptures, vegetable and herb gardens, a Bocce Ball court and even a chicken coup.

There’s also antique and boutique shopping on the estate grounds, including a French market and an upscale flea market. Local experts will also provide workshops while local restaurants will provide boxed lunches for purchase.

The Garden Faire benefits the Hands of Hope, a Barrington-based nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the critical needs of women and children in Africa by addressing education, economic development, clean drinking water and health services.

Hands of Hope

Hands of Hope was started 13 years ago by a small group of women, who were moved into action as they heard reports of women and children who were suffering. Determined to affect change, these women worked tirelessly, giving selflessly of their time, skills and resources.

To date, the organization has raised over $4.5 million, said Vicky Wauterlek, Hands of Hope founder.

“We work hard to make sure our projects are self sustaining and that the impact of our projects will continue in the future,” she said. “Schools that are built will continue to educate children for generations, wells will continue to provide clean water for communities for years - a million dollar loan portfolio will be used to continue the economic growth in the rural community that we are working in.”
